Walking

Culture House Sunderland is accessible by excellent quality pedestrian links, with easy access to the city centre and is a short walk from Sunderland Railway Station, St Peters Metro Station, bus stops and Park Lane bus interchange.

Cycling

The venue is accessible by external cycle routes/lanes. National Route 7 - The C2C Cycle Route - runs West from Roker along the North bank of the River Wear. National Route 1 and 70 runs the length of the East coast of the country, with the section through Sunderland running along the popular Seaburn and Roker coastline.

Bus Services

Bus stops are located at City Hall, which is located within a 10-minute walk of Park Lane Bus Interchange and Fawcett Street where most of the buses stop in the city centre.

The closest bus stops to City Hall are located on A183 St Mary's Boulevard. Stops can be found adjacent to City Hall Eastbound, and adjacent to Keel Square Westbound.  

Buses that currently serve these bus stops are: 

  • Stagecoach 20 Eastbound to city centre will pass City Hall to Fawcett Street 
  • 700 / 701 Connect Bus Eastbound to St. Peters Metro, Stadium of Light & Westbound to Park Lane Interchange 
  • Go NE 9 Westbound to city centre to Park Lane Interchange  
  • Go NE 56 Westbound to city centre to Park Lane Interchange

Tyne and Wear Metro

The following metro stations are located within 900m of Culture House Sunderland:

Tickets are valid on the Metro, Shields Ferry and Sunderland to Newcastle rail line, if they fall into your chosen zone.

Rail

Sunderland Railway Station is a 5-minute walk. Train operators serving this station include:

Car parking

There will be no parking available at Culture House Sunderland but there are lots of public car parks in and around the city centre.
Payment can be made with cash at the machines in most locations or by using the RingGo cashless parking facility. Details of the RingGo system are available on posters at each location.
Disabled Parking / Blue Badge Holders
There are ten disabled bays on the ground floor of St Mary's Car park (normal St Mary's car park charges apply).
